How we decided what to charge for.
Unlimited users
Per-seat pricing punishes exactly the collaboration a delivery platform exists to encourage.
No SSO tax
OIDC single sign-on, audit log, secrets and signed provenance are on the free tier.
No per-target tax
Deploy to ten targets or ten thousand. Environments are capped only on Free.
Self-hosted compute is free forever
Bring your own runners, unlimited minutes. We charge for hosted compute, scale, compliance features and support.

- arm64 is priced the same as x86.
- Larger sizes bill as multiples of the included-minute pool.
- GPU and macOS runners come later (macOS target: $0.08 / min).
- Hosted runners are on the roadmap; until they ship, hosted jobs run on Kubernetes capacity in our cloud at the same prices.
Licensing
Source-available, with an exit.
The control plane is licensed FSL-1.1-Apache-2.0 (Functional Source License). You can self-host and modify it freely; competitors cannot resell it as a hosted service. Each release converts to Apache-2.0 two years after it ships.
The runner, CLI and SDKs are Apache-2.0, so you can embed them in your own tooling without concern.
Questions
What counts as a user?
Nothing. Users are unlimited on every tier, including Free. Pricing is per organisation, not per seat.
Do self-hosted runners cost anything?
No. Self-hosted runner minutes are unlimited on every tier, forever. Concurrency limits apply per tier (10, 50, 250, unlimited) so one org cannot starve the control plane.
What happens when I run out of hosted minutes?
On Free, hosted jobs stop at the limit (a hard stop). On Team and Business, usage past the included pool is billed as overage at the published per-minute rate. Usage meters in the app show where you stand.
Is SSO really free?
OIDC single sign-on (Google, GitHub, Microsoft, Okta and generic OIDC) is on every tier. SAML and SCIM provisioning start on Business.
Can I run Slipway myself?
Yes. The control plane is source-available under FSL-1.1-Apache-2.0 and free to self-host. The runner, CLI and SDKs are Apache-2.0. Self-hosting is available on every tier; paid tiers add support, SLAs and features such as BYOK and change management.
How do larger hosted runners bill?
They bill as multiples of the included-minute pool: a 4 vCPU minute counts as 2 minutes, 8 vCPU as 4, 16 vCPU as 8. arm64 costs the same as x86.
